Equal Prize Money At Wimbledon

It's time to jump on the bandwagon and add my voice to the equal pay debate that is tarnishing this year's Wimbledon tennis tournament. The argument is gaining momentum that the ladies should get paid as much as the men. This happens at other Grand Slams so why not Wimbledon?

It appears Wimbledon officials are just sticking to their guns and traditional views. But surely the reasoning behind this would be that the ladies only play best of three sets with the men playing best of five?

It is normally women in other workplaces who can be unfairly mistreated by getting paid less for doing the same job as a man, but why in tennis' major tournaments should they get paid the same for doing up to 40% less work?

The Prime Minister got involved this week saying it should be equal. What an idiot - it's none of his business (ok it's none of mine but it's getting my goat!) The women are now threatening a boycott unless they get equal prize money which they will then get. The men would then have grounds for threatening to boycott their matches unless they were reduced to best of three sets or they get prize money at least 30% more which won't happen.

The situation is just getting out of hand and it should just be left as it is. Equal pay for equal play should apply so everyone should just get on with it otherwise it could ruin the entire future of Grand Slam tournaments with one sex boycotting each one or men only playing best of three sets or lots of tired ladies after playing five sets.

Rant over - comment if you like, you don't have to agree - it's not often I get this controversial so i'm sorry if i've offended anyone!
