Dullness

Since my last post nothing has happened apart from I had earache so didn't go out last weekend. Today it has rained a lot and the roof leaked at work. I'm not there tomorrow as I'm going to Robin Hoods Bay for the weekend with Kate, JJ, Rosie and Ed. Should be fun.

Two Nights Out

I was in Huddersfield with Rob and Ann on Friday. The night in general made me feel young again and it was ok apart from the swearing, non music playing transvestite DJ at Shout which ended the night prematurely. It's the first time I've been there since it got a new name. I won't be returning.

Saturday was Halifax's turn. I got to town 10 minutes late. I got to the bar in Wetherspoons another 10 minutes later when a nice lady next to me decided I'd been stood there too long so got the barman to serve me next. Kind but a little embarrassing! JJ turned up just 20 minutes late so we had a drink and looked out of the window for a while. Kate turned up one hour late! We lost on quiz machines though I did find Bullseye quite entertaining. Ended up in Maine Street where we saw someone from school who started talking to us. Kate and JJ had no idea who she was but I rarely forget a face and sure enough it turns out that she will never forget when I kissed her in the first year. Half my life ago now.

Still both good nights on the whole.

Terror, New Season, Batman Begins, Favourites Gone

Bombs exploded in London last week. I got worried about the people I know in London but thought it would be silly contacting them as we hardly sem to speak anymore. I then got more worried as I was driving through the gun crime capital of Leeds when they announced on the radio that the bombers were from Leeds. I did see a road cordoned off on my way home but I think that was because someone got stabbed. That was in Bradford. Travelling in slightly worrying surroundings at the moment.

The new football season started. Germany won the womens world cup ages ago. Didn't get round to watching much of it. Liverpool beat TNS 3-0 in the 1st qualifying round of the Champions League 05/06. I have already had a £5 bet with Paul that Huddersfield will finish above Bradford City this season!

I went to see Batman Begins with Kate and JJ last weekend. It dragged a bit but was good. Not as good as Bananaman for example.

"This is 29, Acacia Road. And this is Eric, the schoolboy who leads an exciting double life. For when Eric eats a banana, an amazing transformation occurs. Eric is Bananaman. Ever alert for the call to action."

One hour 20 minutes into the film and it becomes clear how Batman became Batman. Now you see how it dragged. We went to Pizza Hut afterwards and had chicken pizza. The only complaint was Kate saying the large pizza should be cut into 9 pieces rather than 8 when 3 people are sharing it. I explained the impracticalities of this and nothing was said to the staff. Maybe we should have complained, we could have got a great deal like Ed!

The dedicated among you will notice I haven't posted for a while. This is partly due to all my favourites having disappeared after the install of an update. I was not happy at all. So now things will never be the same again but when I get them back I will not have to be lazy again and type the site name in.

Feeling quite down at the moment. I have been working hard though and it has been too hot. The air conditioning was lovely today. Might be out a lot this weekend. I have written a 10 point list of things to do. Posting is number one however I don't think I'll get down to number 10 which is tidying my room. This is because watching lots of sport is at number 8 followed by play lots of PS2! A report on the weekend to come. Next task - getting my favourites back.

We Won A Quiz!

So things to write about. Well, London won the Olympics for 2012. Cool. I'll have to go. Might watch fencing or something easy to get tickets for. Stevie G is staying at Liverpool for another season. Thought he would do but wish I'd had money on it at 10-1 last night. Speaking of money, this gets me onto the real news of the week. We won a quiz.

The quiz was at the Stafford Arms and is easier than the 6 quiz (could it be any more difficult). It might not have all the right answers or the comedy that the 6 has but it has big money prizes. The winning team was !Sarah, Kate, JJ myself and Kate's mum a bit at the end. Oh Bill might have been there too but I'm sure that had nothing to do with it ;-) The quizmaster failed to do a wrong question this week as he realised it was wrong so rather than being out of 90 it was out of 87! 3rd got 68, 2nd got 69 and we got 70. Shocked and amazed we were and our prize, £10 at the bar and pride. We did get lots of vicious looks though from over competitive losers!

Then came the raffle where they pick one number and the team with that number have to pick a team member to answer a question for the prize. This has not been won for around 7 weeks. Our number came up "950". Hmmm who to send? That would be Bill then :-) "Which book is Louisa May Alcott most famous for writing?" Kate and !Sarah knew. JJ and I, "Who?" Bill returned with £125. Nice one! We took £20 each and left hero Bill with the rest. An amazing achievement. Kate summed it up a little exaggeratingly by saying, "Wow, this is the best night of my entire life!"

Maybe we'll retain it next week. Stranger things have happened like the writing off of some third world debt for example!Sarah
