Off To A Land Far Away

I'm off to Las Vegas and south West USA for a couple of weeks from tomorrow. Maybe I'll update when i'm there but probably not. Anyway, this is just to let readers know i'm still alive. I'm quite apprehensive about the 10 hour flight but other than that i'm very excited. I'm going with Kate for her brother's wedding or something. No we are not getting married to anyone wondering and to the 11 people who've asked me already!

Ooooh and I bought an iPod Touch. They've very clever!

Rerouted

Our router broke last Thursday. Sky have sent us a new one and it works better now.

Flights are booked from San Francisco to Vegas and i'm ready for a holiday.

Havant & Waterlooville beat Swansea who are 63 places above them in the league ladder and face Liverpool in the next round.

Hmmm i'm not feeling very creative tonight so i'll just leave it there I think.

Viewing Record

A couple of years ago I wrote a post about When To Take Down Christmas Decorations. Lots of people searched for this in the first week of January so here come the figures.

Previous daily record was 34 visitors set in November 2007 and the previous weekly record was 133 in the same week. The monthly record wasn't broken and remains at 384 from December 2005.

Jan 1 - 33
Jan 2 - 33
Jan 3 - 31
Jan 4 - 64 (woah - almost double the previous record)
Jan 5 - 50
Jan 6 - 26

Week 1 of 2008 - 257 (almost double the previous record)

The monthly figures obviously won't be known until the end of the month but i'll update again then to see if it's a new record. Bet you regular readers can't wait for that one :-)

3rd Round Shocks

Oldham, Coventry and Sheffield United beat Premiership Everton, Blackburn and Bolton in the 3rd round of the FA Cup a the weekend. Havant and Waterlooville, in the 2rd round for the first time drew at Swansea. There were loads of shock draws too so we;ll have to wait for the replays to see if there are any more shocks.

I always like this weekend for the football but this time it was extra special as I watched the recently appalling Huddersfield Town beat Premiership side Birmingham City 2-1. It wasn't an undeserved victory and Birmingham played awful while we played how we should play every week - with fight and resilience. It was a good team effort with Andy Holdsworth and goalscorers Luke Beckett and Chris Brandon playing especially well. I'm in Vegas for the 4th round so am less disappointed than most fans that we have been drawn to play at Oldham (who are one place below us in the league and beat Everton in round 3) in the next round! Hopefully we'll beat them and get a big home tie in the 5th round when i'm back.

A Few Things To Mention

Over the quiet Christmas period I caught up on a couple of posts that got started but never got finished from earlier in 2007. They can be by following the links below:-

Phil's 21st
Tipping Debate

I'd like to congratulate JJ and Caroline on moving in together on Friday and wish them well for the future.

I'd also like to congratulate Jodie on her engagement over Christmas and thank her for actually looking at this every now and again!

My hotel room has now been booked for Las Vegas which isa relief. We just have to sort the 2nd week out now.

I took Phil to the airport very early yesterday morning as he's skiing for a week meaning I have the house to myself for a week. Hopefully I won't get too lonely!

First Post Of 2008

On New Years Eve it was decided we should go to The Moorings in Sowerby Bridge. So we did. JJ and Caroline stayed in as JJ was ill. Ed was also ill. Bill came but was really tired so left about 10:45 leaving just Kate, Shelley, Amanda and Luke. We left about 2:00 and went back to Kate's and finally got to bed about 6:00. I was very drunk and quite sick though. Must've been the glass of champagne I had. Or maybe the vodka and Red Bull. They both tend to make me unwell. Four stellas won't have helped. Nor would the red wine or vodka and orange now I think about it. Hmmmm.

I have the house to myself next week as i'm taking my brother to the airport at 2:30am as he's off skiing.
